After the death of their father, two brothers and their wives meet to arrange the funeral and the heritage, but it soon turns out that the death of their father is not the only thing they have to deal with.

Linoleum is a project in which everybody participated without getting paid, just to be able to work at the highest possible level of artistic freedom.

Linoleum opened at the Netherlands Film Festival 2008 in Utrecht, was shown at the International Film Festival Rotterdam 2009 and was the special closing feature at the Northern Filmfestival 2008 in Leeuwarden.
The international premiere was in San Rafael, CA during the Mill Valley Film Festival 2009.

In 2010 Linoleum was selected for several other intenational film festivals. Anke Engels was nominated for a MIFF award for best acting performance female and Martijn Nieuwerf won the award for best male supporting actor at the Los Angeles International Film Festival, where Linoleum also got a honourable mention.

In an illuminatingly focused cinematic approach, filmmaker Marcel Visbeen's camera quietly captures the nuances of intense, awkward family encounters filled with uncovered secrets and unspoken words. The understated style imbues the simplest of actions, even waiting in line for the bathroom, with unforgettable emotional significance. An intelligent, reflective character study centered on real people in real situations, Linoleum is a passionate, profound drama for grownups.
